EA Networks is located in mid-Canterbury and bordered by the two mighty braided rivers of the Rakaia and Rangitata. With 3,000km of electric lines on a largely meshed network, the Network Operations Centre (NOC) needs to control safe access management and ensure both consistency of load every day and additionally support the delivery of both planned improvement projects and be prepared for unplanned events as and when they arise. The NOC needs to support the operators in the field, engineers and design teams, safety management experts, emergency response, customers, users and retailers, all the while seeking to minimise disruption, improve access, safety management and works coordination to ensure EA Networks is safely keeping the lights on and the web connected for the circa 37,500 people needing these services every day. The DMR network has become a key tool in our arsenal for making this happen
