With over 25 years in the electricity industry Myles Connew, Operations Manager at EA Networks, has a wide range of experience. Starting on the tools and learning his trade on hydro-electric dams, large infrastructure deployment projects then to supporting contract maintenance, managing substations and designing resiliency into networks, Myles understands the different streams of priority that Network Management must control.
In 2013 the responsibility of looking after EA Networks radio network, just as they were getting ready to change from analogue to DMR became part of his responsibilities. This was his first introduction to the communications industry and using a systems-based thinking approach has enabled the Network Operations Centre to utilise the DMR network to improve process and better manage risk. He has seen the importance of Systems Thinking to deliver better service, i.e. weaving together the people, process and technology, to ensure day to day delivery aligns with strategic goals and the wide range of stakeholders a Network Operations Centre must support.
Building industry connections, readiness and insights to further support EA Networks and as a people leader building capability, resilience, and service delivery while always ensuring a safe home everyday approach are core priorities for his role at EA Networks.
